Maori Business Network hosted Maori Healers Atarangi Muru and Manu Korewha in 2011 for a life-changing weekend of healing and deep tissue body work sessions. What a beautiful sacred place was created for us here at our headquarters on that weekend. Three years on we still draw from that energy and guidance, given to us with such aroha, humility and gentle humour.

In January 2014 Ata returned to Sydney with husband Bill Mundy, also a healer, to teach a workshop. We looked forward to beginning the new year with Ata and Bill, learning through them the gifts and knowledge passed down from our ancestors. The workshop will transformed many and after we asked participants their views on the weekend. Here are some of the comments they made;

 Q1 Would you attend a Maori Healing Workshop with us again? Why?

yes it is an area of interest and I loved the teaching style and practice

Absolutely. It was awesome, great teaching, good space and location was easy to get to and I could appreciate the organisation at such short notice. Pretty amazing :)

The work shop was amazing. However if I was to attend another workshop within the next few years I would hope that perhaps as returning student the cost for doing a "refresher" course would be less. alternatively returning students could perhaps have our own one day workshop. I do think a one day refresher for past students might work well to keep us together and practicing.

Q2  How could we make the next workshop better for you? Or, if you answered no in the first question, what would change that answer?

parking but that will always be a challenge in a central location and Longer or marae style waananga would be awesome

Perhaps Air con but I'm not fussy and just grateful for the opportunity to have Ataarangi here at short notice. I'd like practices with the whole group, perhaps have a speaker to give more insight as to different aspects of our culture. What if you could have regular quarterly practise, with a speaker on a related Maori topic, small fee perhaps for cost. Keep workshop participants interested. Just a thought.

As above a one day refresher for returning students would work well, and cost less (I hope) making it more attractive for returning students to attend. Alternatively if we had a bigger venue next time past students could attend part or all of the new students education sessions as assistants. Then there could also be more new students. Some primary schools rent out their school halls. This type of venue would work for that. More notice of an upcoming workshop is great, as I had already paid to attend a Qi Gong weekend retreat workshop the last time the Healers came to town.

Q3 Anything else you would like to share?

This workshop has inspired me and connected a part of me that I didnt realise wasnt whole. It was also a wonderful way to connect with maori in Poihakena. Access to learning this amazing healing modelity or toanga is a blessing and I loved that we had access to one of the best kaiako who is willing to share her knowledge and wisedom. Bring back Atarangi and Bill soon. The wero now is to maintain the learing and make it a practice. More if these kinds of workshops please.

Thank you for everything!!! It couldn't have happened and flowed as wonderful as it did without Maori Business Network. Thank you for making it happen!!

The Maori Healing Workshop offers access to an ancient healing modality that can not be taught in books. I would strongly recommend anyone considering doing this workshop to attend. - happy for you to quote me.
