June and July are the months when Aotearoa New Zealand takes time to acknowledge the Maori New Year. It’s a time to reflect on the past and look to the future…

By attending this event, as well as signing up for an amazing night of great food, drinks and entertainment, you will be supporting The Koha Shed Australia – helping fellow Kiwis in need.  TKSA assist the homeless and victims of domestic abuse right across Australia.  Unfortunately for many of the Kiwis who fall into this group there is no safety net.  They need your help.

It is also the time to celebrate and celebrate we will!  With MC Mike King leading us through an evening jam packed with amazing entertainment from Te Raranga Whanui Kapa Haka; comedy and music from The Modern Maori Quartet and headlined by Australasia’s favourite rock band Dragon.  You will be served three delicious courses from the award winning team at Doltone House plus canapés and beer, wine and non-alcoholic drinks from 6pm – late.

Today Matariki* means celebrating the unique place in which we live and giving respect to the land we live on whether in Aotearoa New Zealand or Australia. Through Matariki we learn about those who came before us: our land, our history, our family. We also look ahead: where we are now – in our adopted home of Australia, where we are going and what will be our legacy for future generations.

* Matariki is the Maori name for the group of stars also known as the Pleiades star cluster or The Seven Sisters and what is referred to as the traditional Maori New Year.
